About Josh
Josh Amos was born and raised in Olympia WA in the 1970s and 80s. Spending a great deal of time learning to love reading, competing in archery tournaments, and learning karate. Despite a stunning lack of natural physical talent, Josh enlisted in the Marines. While in boot camp, Josh found out that he was going to be a father at the ripe old age of 18 (because being a pudgy white kid at MCRD San Diego wasn’t enough of a challenge).
Nonetheless, Josh pushed on and earned the title of US Marine whereupon he served for years as a logistics specialist where he attended many schools and learned lots of lessons that would pay off in his future.
Honorably discharged after four years, Josh returned to Olympia as a disabled veteran (no regrets) where he spent the next parts of his life working various jobs, making mistakes, and trying hard to be a good dad. As a committed lifelong learner, Josh continued with his love of reading and trying new things. Eventually, Josh progressed from noncustodial parent to single dad. Somewhere along the way, Josh earned the esteemed status as bonus dad to his amazing daughter.
After his kids left home, Josh fulfilled a life goal when he went to college as a near 40-year-old “old guy.” Going from zero to MBA in under 5 years while working full time wasn’t easy, but he did it with a 3.75 overall GPA.
It was in his last Semester of grad school when Josh got a call from his long time friend and author Marc MacYoung, who asked Josh to contribute to his anthology book “Beyond the Pickett Fence.” Josh’s contribution was recognized by several authors, who encouraged Josh to continue writing.
Josh still lives in Washington State with his Long hair apricot Mastiff Boudicca, and he enjoys good books, fine cigars, and his family of choice.
